In this round we have news that Normsoft is bringing Pocket Tunes to the Palm Foleo, updates to iambic's YourCall, Ilium Software's ListPro, and a few new Treo apps.
So, we'll just go ahead and start off with the big news that Normsoft revealed at the Linuxworld conference that they are bringing their very popular Pocket Tunes app to the Foleo. Palm Infocenter got some details from Mark Belliveau, Normsoft's VE of Marketing and Business Development.
PIC says that the promotional flyer states that Pocket Tunes on the Foleo combines instant on with instant music. Also noted is that the screenshot on the Foleo shows playback controls derived from the interface of Pocket Tunes 4, a large three-pane view area for album art, library navigation, and the current playlist.
Besides having the features such as Background playback, Support for streaming mp3 Internet radio stations, and a Graphic equalizer, a new feature will be introduced; the ability to re-mix your playlists on-the-fly.
The Pocket Tunes player will use SD cards for storing music files and will have an API accessible to third-party developers, so that they can use the audio capabilities for their own apps.
No word yet on the release date as the app is still in beta. But Normsoft has a teaser page you check out and a blog in which you can keep your eyes on for future details on Pocket Tunes for the Foleo.
With each app that is announced for the Palm Foleo, my drool glands get a little more revved up. My "gotta have it" meter is beginning to beep just a little more each day. I'm betting that my gadget fever will be in overdrive by the time the Foleo is released this summer.

Palm Infocenter is reporting that Palm has released a new update for the SMS software of the unlocked Treo 680s in the Asia-Pacific region. This update can be found on the Australian Palm support page.
According to the support page, the Treo 680 Unlocked GSM smartphone SMS Update improves SMS message handling for certain message types.

You can install the update via a Windows/Mac download, an automatic SD installer or over-the-air directly to your Treo.
Snap is a new Palm OS app by SplashData.

SketchPad is a new app by TrajectoryLabs.com. SketchPad� lets you easily create and maintain multiple full-color sketches with names sorted by dates.
I love to draw and paint so I downloaded the trial of SketchPad so I could mess around with it some. I've never used a drawing or paint program on my Treo before so I thought it would be interesting to see how that would work. I put the program on my Treo 680. The pic to the right is one that I did with SketchPad.
This is a very simple program that doesn't have many bells and whistles. You get three different sized drawing tools, a color palette tool in which you can choose from a great variety of colors, and an eraser tool. You can put in the date and the name of your picture. There is a small binocular icon that allows you to "view all sketches" when clicked on.
You can beam your picture to another device but that device must also have the SketchPad program installed in order to view the picture. I didn't see this option in the 30 day trial, but evidently when you buy the program, you'll be able to save bitmaps to your PC, which is good.
There is an icon of a sheet of blank sheet of paper which when clicked on will open a new sketch pad for you to draw on. There is a small red X icon and clicking on it will delete your current picture that is open. There are also a couple of green arrows for "prev/next". And there is an "i" icon that when clicked on explains all your tool icons.
If you just want to doodle or draw some quick maps or paint some simple pictures, this is a neat little program. If you want to draw or paint pictures with more detail, you'd better look further because there is only so much you can do with this program. It was really fun drawing something on my Treo! I'm sure children would really get a kick out of this program if you dare let them play with your precious Treo device. This is a great way to pass the time! ;-)
I'm used to painting on the my desktop PC with the Windows Paint program that is included with your computer's accessories. There are more options there and of course you have a much larger screen to work with. Above are a couple of pictures I painted using the Windows paint program using my mouse. I keep saying that I'm going to buy a nice Wacom Graphire Pen Tablet to play with but I just never seem to get around to it. Someday....

Phone ScreenLock by PalmarySoft has recently been updated to v1.2.
Phone ScreenLock is a small and very simple in use program for your Windows Mobile phone. It will make your phone talks more comfortable. Now there is no risk to start another program because of a casual touch of the screen with a cheek or fingers. Phone ScreenLock program locks the screen until you hang up.
But it does not mean, that additional functions of your phone are inaccessible during a call. You can unlock your phone for the whole talk, or for the certain period of time after which the screen and the keyboard will be locked automatically again.
If you make many important phone calls and you do not want your talk to be interrupted because of a casual touch of the screen or buttons, Phone Screenlock is the best solution for you!
