Conclusion

Opera Mini has a lot of limitations and problems. My Treo froze after using it for a while. Opera Mini is primarily for cell phone users with limited resources and limited data time. It is underpowered and underwhelming.

Perhaps a better alternative browser is Xiino, a gem of a program, and a cult favorite among Palm users. Its a true full-featured browser with JavaScript, secure connections, and it's fast. It has multiple image resolution options like Opera Mini, but it also lets you reload higher res when you wish. Its use of cache is much more sophisticated than either Blazer or Opera Mini. Xiino is worthy of its own review. Take it out for a spin and see what you think.

Treo 700w owners, dont waste your time with Opera Mini. Try out Opera Mobile for Windows Mobile 5 (still in beta at the time of this writing). It may be a praiseworthy alternative to Pocket Internet Explorer, but it has a limited 45-day trial before they try to ding ya twenty-nine bucks.

If you still want to struggle with Opera Mini on your Palm based Treo, follow the instructions precisely. Mini certainly has its ardent supporters, but Im not one of them.

To check out Mini before you install it, the company's website offers a clever and impressive Simulator option where you can see it run (on a cell phone, not a Treo), and click the buttons, kick the tires. Browse there from a bigger screen than Treo.
