TreoMail by Handspring

>> Read Review (Rating 3/5) <<

Mail provides wireless access to your existing email account so you can send and receive email from your Treo communicator as though you were at your desk. Treo Mail 1.0 is now available in Corporate Desktop Edition for use with Microsoft Outlook/Exchange or POP 3 email accounts located behind a corporate firewall. Internet Edition is available for use with Internet-accessible email accounts.

does not work with groupwise
better to forward groupwise to eudora and then pop home email account. snappermail and treomail do not support groupwise.

Simple & Worthwhile
I'm using TreoMail for my primary mail account, and Eudora for my additional accounts when I'm not near my Powerbook. TreoMail is great because its "passive", I don't have to go check if I've got email, because the Treo will tell me. Eudora works well too, but it's a more work...

www.360link.net is $9.95 a month
In regards to what \"triplespear\" has said about www.360link.net as an alternative to TreoMail\'s one account-only problem, well: 360link.net costs $9.95 a month. TreoMail is $50.00 a year. Combine, you\'d pay $170.00 a year. So, again: Why paying extra for wireless email when you can get it for free with MultiMail Pro, Eudora, Aileron or Iambic, using your own ISP? Convince me and I\'ll switch to TreoMail service....

Why pay for email service?
I am using Iambic email program and loving it. Why should I pay Handspring for an email service when there are free email programs around?

Treo Posterchild
The elgant user interface is what I like about TreoMail. Really simple, barebones. It knows your device is a Treo -- auto-connect, auto-disconnect, scheduled mail, SMS notification of mail, ringtone-notification; I like it! Eudora is nice, but there's a CAPSLOCK issue with the Treo, which bugs me when I write A LOT of e-mail. One-Touch is heavy; advanced, but too advanced for simple needs. (btw, Zero Gravity Wireless provides voice+data services for the Treo in Canada, AND an Outlook/Exchange e-mail exchange and real-time sync... www.zerogravity.net)

Love it
My major use of Treo 270 is 1.phone 2.e-mail Initial problem with Yahoo e-mail retreival. Just stopped working. Service was incredible! Professional, kept in touch, fixed the problem and followed up. Couldn't be happier.

Different users have different needs...
I'm using the Corporate Edition with Microsoft Outlook/Exchange. While TM isn't perfect, you don't have a lot of options for accessing Exchange-based messages from the Treo - and in this context I prefer TM to Aileron which I've also used.

I prefer Eudora
I tried Treo Mail, but honestly I prefer Eudora, mainly because it's free (!), but also because it checks multiple accounts (I'd rather not have another company consolidate my accounts) and has pretty good filters and mail folders. Plus, Treo Mail (as well as standard Palm Mail) always bugged me... scrolling down with the scrollbar makes the entire screen flicker. And alas, being in Australia, no SMS for me.

Aileron better for less
Aileron from Coresoft does what Treomail does only better and for only $30 a year. Check it out
