mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, yesterday announced that Palm(R) Centro(TM) at AT&T has joined on to sponsor the network's Best Music on Campus "battle of the bands" competition, as well as mtvU "Campus Invasion Music Festival '08."

According to The Earth Times, college students have selected Inflowential (NC State), The Lives of Famous Men (Portland State University) and We Are Only Fiction (Georgia Perimeter College) as the three finalists in the newly minted "mtvU and Palm(R) Centro(TM) at AT&T Battle of the Bands" competition.

Driven by student support on mtvU's BestMusiconCampus.com, these three acts have already won the opportunity to share the stage with Wyclef Jean, The Bravery, Flo Rida, Cobra Starship and the other rapidly rising stars on this year's "Campus Invasion" bill. Inflowential, The Lives of Famous Men and We Are Only Fiction will now compete for the chance to be crowned the grand prize winner, collecting $10,000 in cash, free Palm Centro smartphones, service contracts from AT&T and a chance to host mtvU's "Dean's List," the definitive top ten weekly college music countdown.
