Hey all you lucky Sprint customers who finally got their Treo Pro's! Congrats, and enjoy! Congrats to the GSM Treo Pro owners also of course! Just thought I'd pass along that there are two new cases in the TreoCentral store just for your phone! Well, technically the cases are "universal" but they fit your Treo Pro.
First we have the Body Glove Landmark Horizontal Universal Case for Treo Pro, which is, of course, a horizontal case. From the TreoCentral store description:
The Body Glove Landmark Horizontal Universal protective case shields your phone from bumps and scratches in a feature rich style. This case is made with an executive, durable material that is easy to grip. A fixed clip attaches to your belt, pocket, or purse for added convenience and instant phone access.
- Executive, durable material
- Magnetic closure on flap for easy phone access
- Color:Brown
- Low profile belt clip
- Case Dimensions: 2"h x 4"w x 1"d
I've used this type of case before with my Centro and Treo 750 and one of the biggest pluses of this type of case is that it rests against your hip and doesn't hang down as far as a vertical case would. This tends to give you more freedom of movement and lessens the chance of your case being pushed off your belt when you sit down, as it's less likely the case will contact your leg as your thighs near your stomach.
The low profile belt clip also makes for a more comfortable fit as you sit down, as it's not bulky like some removable belt clips are. But, it is a fixed clip, and this type of clip doesn't give any should your hip hit, say, a doorway. This can cause the belt clip to twist, with the case, and knock your case and phone off of your hip. Usually the case will protect your phone, though. Why else would you buy the case if it wasn't to protect your phone, eh?
Another nice feature of this type of case is the ease of removing your phone from the case. Simply push up through the bottom slot and your phone should easily pop right out of the case! In addition, magnetic closures are nice as there is no tedious snapping when trying to close the case and secure your phone!
Next we have the Body Glove Landmark Universal Case for Treo Pro, which is a vertical case. From the TreoCentral store description:
The Body Glove Landmark Universal protective case shields your phone from bumps and scratches in a feature rich style. This case is made with an executive, durable material that is easy to grip. A rotating belt clip attaches to your belt, pocket, or purse for added convenience and instant phone access.
- Executive, durable material
- Magnetic closure on flap for easy phone access
- Low profile rotating belt clip
- Case Dimensions: 4.3"h x 2.4"w x 1.6"d
I've also used this type of case before with both my Centro and my Treo 750. The biggest difference between this vertical case and the horizontal cases is, again, that a vertical case tends to occasionally stab your leg when sitting down, IF you were to wear it anywhere between your hip and the center of your body. Wearing a vertical case reminds me of wearing a holster, such as you'd carry a pistol in. I like this type of case, too, because I can usually 'feel' that my case and phone are there at all times.
Should the case migrate from my hip towards the center of my body, the rotating clip should help keep the case from 'stabbing' my leg, as the case could rotate slightly as it made contact with my leg. This rotation could also ward off or hinder the chance of having your phone and case being knocked off of your belt, as the case can rotate a bit instead of simply being jolted free from your belt.
I guess the biggest difference would then be the way you remove your phone from this case as opposed to removing it from a horizontal case. With the vertical style case, you typically grasp your phone on both sides of the phone and pull your phone out of the case, whereas you can push your phone up out of a horizontal case.
Whichever style of case you prefer, both of these cases should make for an excellent solution in carrying your phone and keeping your phone safe from bumps and scratches. You can get the Body Glove Landmark Horizontal Universal Case for Treo Pro here for $19.95 or the Body Glove Landmark Universal Case for Treo Pro here, also for $19.95!
I own the Body Glove Silicone Case (Buy/Read Review)for my Centro, and I must say that it's one of my all-time favorite smartphone cases. Body Glove makes excellent cases.
