Palm lowers price of unlocked Treo 650

Tue Sep 13, 2005 - 12:06 PM EDT - By James Hromadka

Clearing stock?

If you are a T-Mobile user like myself, an unlocked Treo is the only way to go. However, it's pretty expensive without the carrier discounts that Cingular and Sprint offer. When the unlocked Treo was first released, Palm mistakenly sold it for $100 cheaper than they were supposed to. The price subsequently went up to its astronomical price of $700.

Today Palm knocked took fifty bucks off that price, bringing the cost of a new unlocked Treo to $649. That's still not exactly sofa change. Perhaps Palm is trying to clear stock of the smartphone for a new product? One can only hope.
