Treo 680 Available on Rogers Network in Canada

Overview

Here you go, our northern friends, the Treo 680 has popped up on Rogers' website. Alas, they only have it in graphite. Looks like their prices are about on a par with Cingular's (if you ignore that pesky exchange rate): a 3-year plan will mean the phone will cost you $299 Canadian (about $260 US).

3 years is a long time though. The bad news is that the price jumps significantly when you shorten the contract. Prices break down thusly: $449 Canadian for a 2-year (about $390 US), $499 Canadian for a 1-year (about $435 US), and with no contract whatsoever it's still $499 Canadian. (I don't get it either.)

In any case, it's nice to see the 680 is spreading to other carriers with some speed. Of course, you can still get the unlocked version of the 680 direct from Palm for $399 US - that's $460ish Canadian, not far from what Rogers is charging.

Thanks to Oliver for the tip!

(P.S. for you US folks, the TreoCentral Store is now carrying the Treo 680 for Cingular. You'll need to either start a new contract or get an extension, but it's cheap: a new 2-year plan with data will mean a free Treo 680 after rebates. Plan extensions are also available.)
