Tip o' the Week: Job Search v2.0

Wed May 28, 2008 - 3:02 PM EDT - By Brian Hart

When I first started using a Palm more than 10 years ago, I could not have foreseen the vast universe of software that would be available for the platform. Free software has often been a labor of love by the developers; for some, a hobby to increase their knowledge and understanding of the Palm OS and a way to contribute to the Palm community. It is an honor for me to highlight some of these free apps in the weekly Tip column, and the app featured in this week's Tip is Job Search v2.0 by John Kowalik. Read on to learn more about Job Search!

The weather is warming up, kids are getting out of school, and graduation is on everyone's mind (well, at least the minds of those who have toiled through school!). But after graduation, what then? Some people may already have jobs lined up, but some are about to hit the pavement and start job-hunting. Or, if you are looking for a better job, a second job, or are a casualty of a sluggish economy, you may also be out there seeking new employment. If you carry a Palm OS Treo or Centro with you, then Job Search v2.0 by John Kowalik may be a great sidekick in your job-hunting adventures!

Just download Job Search here ( and start organizing your job searching efforts! This is a useful app where you can keep track of the company name, address, contact information, phone and fax numbers, and email addresses for your job interviews.

Keep track of the position offered, type of work (full time, part time, etc.), drop-down list for level of interest, wage or salary, and schedule of interview dates and times. You can also set an alarm to remind you of your next interview!

If you have just one or two interviews and have narrowed your options from the beginning, this app may not be for you. However, if you are casting your nets wide (like my Gramps always told me to do), then Job Search v2.0 will help you stay organized and possibly give you a leg-up on the competition.

Thanks goes out to John Kowalik for developing this nice little app and hopefully it is a timely inclusion to this week's Tip. No matter your job-hunting situation, Job Search v2.0 can help you get it done!
