Last week's Tip was all about the greatness of using your Treo's camera for everything from a quick picture on the go to capturing whiteboard information at work to save yourself from a lot of handwriting. In the spirit of community, Andre (Dre Dawg) informed me of a little gem that takes this camera stuff a giant step further with an online service he recommends: Qipit!
If you have a Palm Treo, either WM or Palm OS, then Qipit can work for you. Qipit is a free online service that makes it possible for you to take a picture, upload it to the Qipit site via email or MMS, and Qipit converts your .JPG file into a .PDF file where it can be posted to the site or sent to another person via email. This is a great way to share whiteboard information, handwritten notes, or other documents without having to run to a fax machine! Cool!
If that wasn't impressive enough, not only can you email your converted photo to other recipients, but you can fax to them as well. Suppose you need to draft a quick contract, like a bill of sale, and fax it to your bank? What if you are on the road and not even close to a fax machine? Just draft the contract (i.e., bill of sale for a car), snap a picture of it with your Treo, then fax it to your bank via Qipit.
What if you want to post a pic to your blog on your web site? Qipit can do that too. Just take a pic, send it via email or MMS, and you can post it directly to your web site. This is a powerful tool for the price of - free!
A special thanks goes out to Andre a.k.a. Dre Dawg for this useful Tip. Give Qipit a try and see how creative YOU can be with your Treo camera!
That's it for this week's Tip. If you are a developer with some helpful and/or fun software or if you have a Tip that you wish to pass on to the rest of the community, just email me at: [email protected]. Tune in next week for another Tip!
