We've got a couple of Palm news blurbs this morning. First up, Palm said last Tuesday that it would announce its first-quarter fiscal year 2009 financial results on Thursday, Sept. 18, shortly after 4 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Pacific), followed by a conference call for the public at 4:30 p.m. Eastern (1:30 p.m. Pacific).
And of course TreoCentral will be listening in on the conference call and will be reporting on what goes on. So stay tuned.
In other Palm news, Palm has announced their environmental philosophy over at their website.
Palm defines its environmental stewardship as the assumption of responsibility for its impact on the environment and natural resources.
Part of their new eco-friendly philosophy includes packaging. I'm sure you noticed the new "minimal" packaging of the Treo Pro. Palm's goal is to reduce their packaging footprint which means:
Palm also mentions their product design, stating that all new Palm products since 2006 are RoHS compliant. Palm went above and beyond what is legislated and regulated by voluntarily removing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from all packaging and removed PVC and halogenated flame retardants from all new cables starting in Fall of 2008.
Palm is also "taking back & recycling" with a goal of keeping all of their products out of landfills.:
Our program goal is to safely reclaim metals and other materials while protecting the environment. This recycling process then makes these materials available for reuse where possible.
With Palm's recycling program, United States customers can recycle their old devices. Palm even has a link where you can print a postage paid mailing label.
It's nice to see Palm putting forth the effort to protect the environment.
