Handspring announced today that its family of Treo Communicators received several end-of-year accolades as the cell phone of choice from a variety of business, technology and consumer publications. Most recently Computer Reseller News recognized the Treo as a leader in its category, citing its technological ingenuity and naming it the best overall product of 2002. CRN's Test Center chose Treo as the best product across ten categories including handheld PCs, notebooks, printers and portals. Treo continues to be recognized for its superior performance in integrating a cell phone, organizer, email and web- browsing functionality into one small device.
In addition to the award from CRN, Treo was given PC Magazine's award for technical excellence at the 2002 Fall Comdex exhibition, winning over competitors including the Apple iPod and the T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition. In December, Treo 300 was named "best PDA Phone" by Cnet and "best technology" in ZDNet's holiday gift guide, and was included in USA Today's "Tech's Best" roundup, Fortune Magazine's "Best of 2002", CNN's "Hot Gifts" and "The Tops in Tech" by Newsday.
"We're honored by the recognition Treo has received as the best in its class from such a wide range of sources," said Joe Sipher, vice president of worldwide marketing for Handspring, Inc. "This is a competitive field and Handspring has been committed to delivering a product that's both highly innovative yet easy to use, and most importantly, highly valuable to our customers. Treo really delivers on that promise."
"The CRN Test Center analyzes each product's technical capabilities and examines the potential revenue solution providers could make from the support and integration of each product tested," said John Yacono, director of CRN Labs. "Offering unrivaled revenue opportunities, innovative channel support and technological ingenuity, the Handspring Treo 300 is the clear choice for best new product of 2002."
