OtterBox, the company that makes the coolest cases to safeguard our smartphones, has just announced two new products for the Palm Centro and Palm Treo 800w. OtterBox makes rugged cases that offer extreme protection for your smartphone. I reviewed the OtterBox 1921 awhile back and was very impressed with it.
Let's see what OtterBox has put together for us this time!
The OtterBox 1923 is part of the sleek Defender Series line, and offers three layers of maximum protection with minimal bulk:
OtterBox says that you can take pictures, make phone call and surf the net with ease as the OtterBox 1923 case is fully interactive and allows access to device functions through the case. There are acoustical vents that protect the speakers from dust and dirt while providing clear sound transmission, and the sync/charge jack is accessible via a silicone plug. The case also comes with a holster style swivel belt clip for convenient carrying and easy access.
From the press release:
"We are excited to add Centro to our growing case line," said Curt Richardson, CEO, OtterBox. "Smartphones are some of the hottest tech devices on the market right now and this case allows customers to take their Centro on-the-go without fear of damaging it."
The OtterBox 1923 looks great! This case would be great to carry your Centro in when hiking or walking along the beach. OtterBox notes that the case is NOT fully protected against water. The OtterBox 1923 will provide some added protection against drops, bumps and dust, but it's NOT intended for protection against water intrusion. Hey, that's fine with me because I would never take my Centro around water anyway. If I were to take it on a boat ride, I'd probably carry it inside a Ziplock bag. Heck, maybe even 2 Ziplock bags! The OtterBox 1923 would be great and would offer all the protection I would need in the places that I would take my Centro.
The OtterBox 1923 is priced at $49.95. You can sign up here to receive an email notification when the case is in stock.
OtterBox also announced the OtterBox for Treo 800w, which allows you to take your smartphone on-the-go from the office to home and everywhere in between. Your Treo 800w is expensive and there are many situations in which your smartphone could get broken or scratched up. Innovative protection from OtterBox can offer you peace of mind though.
As with the OtterBox 1923 for the Centro, the OtterBox for Treo 800w is fully interactive, allowing utilization of all device features. You can make phone calls, use the GPS to get directions and read your emails as they arrive. Plus the sync/charge jack, silence switch and stylus are all accessible via silicone plugs. Acoustic vents protect the speakers and microphone while providing clear sound transmission. There is a holster style swivel belt clip that allows for easy carrying and access too.
From the press release:
"As the first Defender Series case for Palm Treo devices, the OtterBox for Treo 800w allows us to meet the changing needs of our customers," said Curt Richardson, CEO of OtterBox. "The sleek design is more versatile than previous Treo cases while still providing trusted OtterBox protection."
Three slim-fit layers offers extra protection against drops, scratches and dust*:
As with the OtterBox 1923, the OtterBox for Treo 800w is not tested or recommended for water protection, but does protect against drops, bumps & shock. And the case helps to keep dust from your smartphone.
The OtterBox for Treo 800w is $49.95, and you can sign up to receive an email notification when the product is in stock here.
I like the looks of both of these new OtterBox cases! These would be great for people on-the-go and people who work in rugged environments. I can imagine that contractors, telephone linemen, and forest rangers could use an OtterBox case. And of course people who live very active lifestyles too. Smartphones aren't cheap, so you might as well protect them as best you can. I'm thankful that OtterBox makes such nice cases!
