On Thursday, SplashData announced the acquisition of iambic, Inc., a pioneer in the development of mobile productivity software. iambic's flagship application, Agendus, is an award-winning calendaring and time management solution for iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Symbian devices.
The announcement took place at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. According to the press release, iambic will retain a separate website, user forum, and brand, but SplashData will start cross-promoting the two lines of applications. Justin Cepelak, VP of Product Management at SplashData, will oversee the operations of iambic.
Some reaction:
Shaun from PDA247 said, "This will come as surprising news to those of you who have dealt with both these companies, but SplashData has announced at CES that it has aquired iambic. Similar companies with different setups, but it sounds like a good move for both."
At Gear Diary, CarlyZ wrote, "...hopefully this leads to more software support across platforms, and the same quality apps we’ve come to know and love through the years. What do you think they should call the combined company? Splashbic?Iamdata?"
At Just Another Mobile Monday, dgoldring said, " By acquiring Iambic, SplashData offers significant resources to the continued development of the aging PIM program. I am excited to see what this news will mean for products from both companies. Hopefully, we will see some big developments coming to a mobile device near you."
