Update: Wireless Over Landlines

Thu May 13, 2010 - 12:49 PM EDT - By Annie Latham

According to a new report by National Center for Health Statistics ( part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), in the last half of 2009, nearly 25% of U.S. homes abandoned land lines and use only a cellphone. That is up 1.8 percentage points since the first half of 2009.

The report also noted one of every seven American homes (14.9 percent) had a land line yet received all or almost all calls on wireless telephones.
