Conclusion: Now what do we edit?

So what do you do with this new-found power? I'd start slowly, if I were you. You can hunt around the TreoCentral forums, do your research, and see what comes up. Here's one suggestion for you Verizon folks: you may be able to pump up your multitasking ability a bit.

It's no secret anymore that the Treo 700w doesn't have enough program memory for heavy multitaskers. So, there are a few solutions to this issue. One is to simply stop multitasking. Another that many users have tried, myself included, is using various memory management applications to try to lessen the pain (see Woe is Me(mory) for more information). Other users are waiting with bated breath to see whether or not PocketPC Techs, Inc. can hack together an aftermarket hardware upgrade. Finally, now that Palm is releasing the 700wx to more carriers, it's conceivable that Verizon will eventually start carrying it as well.

None of the above are ideal solutions, however. Instead we have TreoCentral forums come to the rescue, in the form of a thread titled 700W-Fix for lower memory limits.

Next week I'll take us step-by-step through the "Folkie solution" to see if it really does help with the 700w's multitasking. In the meantime, backup often, respect the registry's power, and enjoy the feeling of being a Power User.
