Hobbyist Software has released Initiate III in Beta. Initiate is a launcher designed for Smartphones and it lets you launch just about anything, from applications to bookmarks.
With Initiate, you can find exactly what you want fast, whether it's a contact, bookmark, an MP3, or an application. You can use Initiate to dial a contact, send an sms, play an MP3, launch an application, load a bookmark, or manage your files. You can also choose skins and backgrounds to customise the look and feel of Initiate. Plus Initiate can Voice-Launch anything.
And Initiate III has a host of new features such as a completely new look, new status icons (speaker and voicemail), new underlining as you type to show how matching is working (Smart search is now the default option, ) added support for palm documents, more supported document readers, moved search display to status area and expanded status area,
added ability to show/hide buttons, added console-style display during manual list update, use Palm photo picker for jpeg backgrounds, and many more.
Initiate III supports plugins in the dateBk6 format or the 2Day format. You can get them here. The devices that have currently been tested are the Treo 650, Treo 680, Treo 700p, Treo 755p, and the Lifedrive.
Upgrades are free for a year, so within the year, you can freely upgrade from Initiate to Initiate III. You can go here for the Initiate III Beta download.
Initiate III sounds like a pretty snazzy launcher for the Treo. There are a lot of great features. I like that it supports plugins and that you can display icons without text.
