Treo Leather Belt Clip Holster

Fri Aug 30, 2002 - 12:04 PM EDT - By Andreas G. Nie

Design meets functionality

The opening on the front of the holster allows me to take out the Treo with one hand without having to use fingertips. A soft push with my middle finger lets it easily slide out of the holster. Because of the design of the holster's sides the Treo is placed into the holster with the lid facing towards the body. Consequently, the Treo is already in the correct position in my hand when I take it out. Of course this functionally has a drawback. If the Treo should be dropped by accident it may be damaged although it is in the holster. But the belt clip keeps the holster securely in place making a drop almost impossible.

The "unique" belt clip is indeed special. First of all it's compact. It sticks out a mere 7 mm and uses a small metal plate to keep it tight. Also it has an inward bent end resembling a hook. Clipping it to my pants the Treo in the holster sits securely in place. Neither wild jumping around nor deliberate pulling can tear it off. At the same time wearing the holster does not affect one's movements at all. On the one hand the horizontal alignment prevents the Treo from poking into my side. On the other hand the compact design keeps the Treo from bulging out too much. However the simple metal clip looks a little cheap at a first glance but that is probably the price to pay for the compactness.
