Wow, more Palm Treo rumor news tonight from The Boy Genius Report via WMExperts. This time the BGR is reporting on the follow up to the Treo 500v; a device codenamed "Palm Wanda". Hey, and there are pics this time!
I know that Dieter has been wishing for a Treo 500v in a GSM flavor, so here ya go Dieter! I'll take one of those myself too. The Palm Wanda sure looks long and narrow. Check out the back of the device too. You can see the back of the Wanda (right), compared to the back of the 500v (left).
The BGR described the Palm Wanda as a cross between the Palm Centro and the HTC Touch. The Wanda certainly resembles the Centro. It sure looks thin like the Centro. I hope that the Palm Wanda comes in more colors than the pictured White model. You can see the Palm Wanda, Treo 500v, and the Centro in the comparison pic below. Pretty similar. And also pretty sweet if you ask me. I'll take one of each please! ;-)
Below are the Palm Wanda's specs:
- Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- 3G/3.6 HSDPA
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- 320x340 2.2" QVGA color display
- Full QWERTY keyboard
- 2 Megapixel camera
- 1200mAh battery
- GPS
It's nice to be hearing about another 3G Treo on the horizon running Windows 6.1. Heck, I haven't even gotten around to putting WM 6 on my Treo 750 since the update came out, and we're already hearing about a couple of new Treos to come out running yet another version of Windows Mobile. Good to know that Palm is on the ball there though. GPS sounds good too as does the 2 megapixel camera.
According to the leaked roadmap, the Palm Wanda target launch is September 2008. I'd sure love to hear more on the rumored GSM Centro. Well, Dieter says that WMExperts' money is on the Palm Wanda getting the "Centro" branding, and that sounds great to me. ;-)
