Will Treo 800w Sport Micro USB?

Tue Mar 25, 2008 - 2:35 PM EDT - By Jennifer Chappell

Our sister site WMExperts is reporting that the Treo 800w might have a micro-USB connector rather than the "Athena" connector. The bottom connectors on recent devices have been changing. We've seen the mini-USB Audio pop up here and there. I like how Dieter describes it: HTC's wacky mini-USB Audio, or something that was “like USB but wasn't.”

Anyway, Dieter over at WMExperts says that signs point to Palm using micro-USB:

Signs point to Palm using micro-USB. What signs? Well, micro-USB is to be the new mobile standard as per the Open Mobile Terminal Platform. Why else? Check this, try a little search for 3291ww and see what pops up: the “Palm 3291ww Vehicle Charger Micro USB.” Could be a mistake or a coincidence, but if so, it's an awfully widespread one. We're going out on a limb and calling this one: Micro USB.

This is a very interesting find! Micro-USB would be fine with me. Heck, any connector (well, almost any) will be okay just so we don't have to wait beyond August!
