Wow, today was a BIG day for Apple at WWDC 08! Steve Jobs had the crowd all excited as he gave the big news that everyone has been waiting for. And our sister site, the iPhone Blog was live blogging during the whole event. Dieter and the gang did a marvelous job of giving us every detail!
Jobs finally announced the iPhone release date, which is July 11th, 2008. I think one of the most surprising things I heard today was the pricing. Get this: the 8GB version is going to be $199 and the 16GB version will be $299! If my memory serves me correctly, I paid around $599 (yeah, I was one of those early buyers) for my 4GB iPhone last year. *Gulp* What a Huge difference in price! My jaw literally dropped when I read about the price today. I'm still glad that I got my iPhone when I did and have really been enjoying it. I reckon I'll be selling it though to make room for the 3G iPhone, Black in the 16GB version. There's no way I'm passing up that price. I watch a crapload of movies and TV shows on my iPhone and I need all the space I can get. I'm going to be needing some of that extra space for those games that were annnounced today, like Super MonkeyBall.
The 3G iPhone will be available in both Black and White. Well, at least we've heard that you'll be able to get White in the 16GB version. The 3G iPhone will have data speeds that are 2.8 times faster than EDGE. Plus it has GPS.
iPhone or no iPhone, I still love my Treo 680, Treo 750, and my Centro and they aren't going anywhere! They're all good! My Centro is my main phone at the moment. It's my "go to" device and it stays right here by my side 24/7. My iPhone is my media device. I mean, heck, just look at the screen on the thing.
Anyway, head on over to the iPhone Blog for all the deets! There's lots more info to read so get a move on already! ;-)
