New AIM client for WM

Tue Jun 24, 2008 - 1:00 PM EDT - By Jennifer Chappell

Overview

WMExperts is reporting that AOL has just released a new instant messenger client for Windows Mobile. AIM for Windows Mobile brings all the best features of AIM on your PC to your Treo. You can communicate whenever you want, wherever you are, and do so in whatever way suits you best, be it IM or text.

With AIM for Windows Mobile, you'll also be able to change your conversation style, manage your Buddy List and more. AIM Windows Mobile has many of the same key features and a familiar look-and-feel of the desktop AIM client.

The AIM for WM site states:

This build of AIM Mobile does not have an Update Mechanism available. This means you will have to return to beta.aol.com and check if a new build of AIM for Windows Mobile is available. The Update Mechanism will be included in a future build.

AIM for Windows Mobile supports Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6.0, both the Professional and Standard editions. AIM for WM is free but I'd recommend having an unlimited data plan to use this app.

This app looks pretty nice but I haven't tried it myself. Right now I'm happy with the IM program that shipped on my Centro.

The AIM for WM site says that most Treo's are compatible so that's good to know. You can check out the app here.
