Palm Leather Finger Lanyard

Wed Sep 24, 2008 - 8:55 AM EDT - By Jay Gross

Overview

One of the sweetest things about the Centro is that little corner post on the bottom right corner. It accommodates a lanyard. These now come in a variety of colors, materials, lengths, and styles, with probably many more yet to appear.

I have several lanyards in my collection, and the ones I like best and use the most are neck lanyards. My Centro is red (!), and I like the contrast with a white lanyard. However, with its new leather entry, Palm brings yet another configuration to the ever expanding fray: finger style. It’s like guitar pickin’, but without the guitar. The promo copy tells the tale:

…Attaches to your phone or finger with black nylon loop

Maybe that’s a little mixed up, and the lanyard is supposed to attach your Centro to your finger. Could be. The lanyard is not long enough to fit around a wrist – except perhaps a very small one. Actually, I suspect its true purpose in life is solely fulfilling that Overriding Factor for All Things Fashion: looks. Think of it as jewelry for your smartphone.

The Palm Leather Finger Lanyard does indeed look good. Great, in fact, and with plenty of coolth to spare. It’s decorated with a silver-colored heart and two circular buttons that all look fab against the black leather loop. Moreover, it has a red interior and a splash of red stitching at the top that coordinates quite well with my Centro - although it would also go well with the black and the white models. I’ll reserve judgement on the pink one till I get one.

For function, the loop does only one job: it makes an excellent pocket puller outer. Yank the Centro by its lanyard, instead of fishing around in your pocket or book bag and smudging the screen with fingerprints. I find it quite handy.

For all this, it weighs nearly nothing. My kitchen scale, that I bought to diet with, pegs it at 2 or 3 grams – it can’t decide which. It considers that zero ounces, and I do, too, but if you must do the math, feel free. It’s still negligible additional weight to carry around.

Conclusion

If you feel the need to decorate your Centro, the Palm Leather Finger Lanyard is a good place to start. It offers great looks, and it forms a handle by which to retrieve your Centro from your pocket, book bag, or purse.
