Update 2: I just remembered that we'd posted on hearing word back in August via The Taiwan Economic news, CENS.com that Palm had placed its contract order for the newest Treo Pro series 3.5G phones with Taiwan`s High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC). And if recall, further in the CENS.com article was this:
Furthermore, Palm is planning to launch CDMA (code division multiple access) version of Treo Pro series phone in the future for CDMA telecom service providers, like Verizon, Wireless and Sprint. The phone will also be supplied by HTC.
I don't know how, but that had slipped my mind completely.
Update: Malatesta over at our sister site WMExperts has just come upon something very interesting in his search at Sprint's website for a download for his Treo 800w. Malatesta needed the Sprint Picture Mail download for his 800w, and when he was looking at Sprint's device selector, he saw the Treo Pro listed. WhooHoo!
You can see it for yourselves in the pic below:
So, it looks like the Treo Pro really is coming to Sprint. Thanks Mal! That was a really great find! ;-)
Well, well, Dieter is reporting something very interesting over at our sister site WMExperts. Seems that he's spotted a Treo at DSL Reports. And not just any Treo; it's referred to as the "Treo850e". "e"? Hmmm, a new Treo Pro?
The Domain is listed as "Sprint" and the speed test results are 1060 kbps with .229s of latency on the spcsdns.net network, running MSIEMobile 6.0.
Let's hope that this is for real and is a sign that a new Treo Pro is on its way to all you folks on Sprint who are craving a Treo Pro. I've got my fingers crossed for ya!
You can go over to DSL Reports and check it out for yourselves.
I think I'd be pretty peeved hearing this if I were a Verizon customer. Verizon WM Treo users are bound to be tired of waiting for a new WM Treo to be released.
