Goodlink 2.1

Fri Sep 26, 2003 - 10:52 PM EDT - By Michael Ducker

Many may recall that Good Technology started out by designing and selling the SoundsGood MP3 player springboard module for Visors. They soon thought differently and announced a change in focus. Good Technology started selling it's Goodlink service for RIM handhelds earlier this year, and even made their own wireless messenger. Now the company has made a full loop by joining up with Handspring again, this time with the Treo 600.

From the PR:

"GoodLink 2.1 delivers the power of cradle-free, real-time synchronization for wirelessly connecting users with Microsoft Exchange and other vital enterprise information... Together, Handspring and Good offer a future-proof wireless system for enterprise customers that combines the power of Microsoft Outlook tightly integrated with messaging, web browsing and phone functionality.

"We required a truly standards-based wireless solution designed to work on multiple networks and industry standard devices. We looked at all the wireless solutions on the market today and GoodLink meets the requirement," said James D. Cook, senior director, EDS CIO Enterprise Operation. "GoodLink on the Treo 600 satisfies our extensive communications and data access needs packaged as a seamless integrated device."

"By betting on standard platforms, customers benefit from the broad range of devices and applications that are uniquely enabled by industry standards," said Danny Shader, Good Technology’s CEO. "The seamless integration of GoodLink with the innovative Handspring Treo 600 proves the advantage of this strategy over proprietary approaches."

Since GoodLink 2.0 was launched earlier this year, Good Technology has grown its customer base to over 1200 enterprise accounts. GoodLink was built to support standard devices like the Treo 600 and tightly integrates with the Treo’s hardware navigation buttons, quick strokes, color touch screen, Web browser, phone and Palm OS security. GoodLink provides a unique positive confirmation architecture coupled with end-to-end Triple DES security, easy server installation and maintenance, and a console for fleet management.

Good’s high standards for reliability have earned it customer praise. "With GoodLink 2.1 on the Treo 600, our employees can carry one device for wireless email, access to our enterprise systems, voice and Web," said Pat Schreffler, CTO at CB Richard Ellis. "Our past experience deploying GoodLink suggests that rolling out this system on the new Treo 600 will be fast and easy since there are no cradles and desktop software to install and support. This is a winning combination for our company because it enables us to provide customer-facing employees with communication and access to internal information right at the point of business.""
