Again, How fast is your Treo?

Fri Jun 11, 2004 - 1:50 PM EDT - By Michael Ducker

A little bit more than a year ago, we did a small survey on the site regarding GPRS and Sprint Vision download speeds on the Treo 180, 270, and 300. We had more than 40 people respond, providing 74 data points. As expected, Sprint Vision was much faster than any GPRS solution. But, have the GPRS networks improved? Has Sprint Vision become faster?

I want to do a much larger survey. I want to get 400 people to respond. I would like to ask you to run DSLReport's mobile speed test on your Treo, using a 100 kilobyte file size. Here is the URL: http://text.dslreports.com/mspeed. When you have finished the test, please add your data to this thread, and make sure to include your service provider, and if you are on a Treo other than a 600, tell which model you have. I will compile the data in the forums, and provide a report similar to what I did last year.

Hopefully we will see some positive trends, and maybe be able to judge the effect of a faster processor on the speed at which it can download data. Or have the networks become slower from increased usage? Take the survey, and soon we'll find out.
