Pocket Tunes, a PalmSource Powered Up award winner and one of the best MP3 playing applications available for Palm OS, reached version 3.0 today. Many Treo owners use this application because Pocket Tunes 2.0 Basic was given away to all Treo 600 owners upon registration.
Version 3.0's groundbreaking feature is the ability to play Windows Media Files directly on the Treo with no conversion (deluxe version only). This is the first software to ever enable this on Palm OS. Not only does it play Windows Media files, but Pocket Tunes 3.0 allows you to add music files directly from Windows Media Player.
Also added in version 3.0 is improved orgnization of music files on the device, and seperate plugins for Ogg Vorbis and Wav decoding support to reduce file size.
Pocket Tunes already plays MP3s, Ogg Vorbis, WAV files, and can stream MP3s over the Treo's wireless internet connection. It is a skinable application with a multitude of different skins available, such as the iTunes skin at right. For full details on the Pocket Tunes, see their site.
Pocket Tunes 3.0 costs $14.95 for the Basic version without WMA playback and $27.95 for the deluxe version. Reduced upgrade prices are also available. Lastly, a 15 day trial can be downloaded here.
