PalmOne adds third carrier for CMDA Treo 600

Mon Sep 6, 2004 - 5:49 PM EDT - By Michael Ducker

Press Release:

PalmOne Canada and Bell Mobility announced the availability of the award-wining Treo(TM) 600 smartphone to Bell Mobility customers, marking the first time that any wireless device from palmOne will be deployed over a CDMA 1X network in Canada. The Treo 600 smartphone combines a world-class phone with messaging, email, and web-browsing capabilities and a Palm OS 5-based handheld computer in a compact device with a phone-like look and feel.

"Bell Mobility customers can now experience the simplicity, performance and design that Treo 600 enthusiasts have now come to love and rely on," said Michael Moskowitz, president and general manager, palmOne Canada. "Given the unwavering acceptance of CDMA-driven technology, this new carrier relationship is a significant complement to palmOne's wireless presence and penetration in Canada."

"In addition to Bell Mobility's unsurpassed network coverage for voice calls, our 1X network already supports several data applications like email and location-based services," said Michael Neuman, president, Bell Mobility. "The Treo 600 takes full advantage of Bell's network capabilities and services in one device that lets our customers do what they want, when they want."

Pricing and Availability

The Treo 600 smartphone is available to Bell Mobility customers for $549CAD when purchased with a three-year voice and data service agreement, $574CAD with a two-year service agreement, $649CAD with a one-year service agreement, and $699CAD without Bell contract obligation. The Treo 600 may be ordered immediately through the direct Bell Mobility dealer channel, corporate business sales channel, select retail and value-added resellers, and online at www.bell.ca/wireless or www.businessonthego.ca.
