ThinkOutside Boomtube H201

Thu Feb 23, 2006 - 5:01 PM EST - By Harv Laser

Conclusion

The ThinkOutside Boomtube H201 speaker system is a beautiful piece of stylish industrial design. It’s small and light enough to tote around, yet it feels substantial and well-built. The box is filled with everything you’ll need and for casual listening it pumps out nicely balanced and accurate highs, midrange, and upper bass. Generally, as an audiophile, I'd say it sounds good, and you can listen to it, without fatigue, for hours. But really low bass reproduction falls short of what it should or could be. The speaker cones need protective grilles. The whole cabling scheme is messy, and the system is a tad on the pricey side. With some thought to re-engineering, even adding a bit of weight and size to give its subwoofer 3” drivers, (would you really care if it weighed a pound or two more if that gave you much lower bass?).. it could be a LOT better.
