I-Tech Virtual Laser Bluetooth Keyboard

Thu Aug 31, 2006 - 3:51 PM EDT - By Harv Laser

Conclusion

As a total replacement for a real, physical keyboard, the VKB is just a little too strange and quirky for me – I type for a living and I simply could not re-wire my brain to touch type on a "picture" of a keyboard. For casual use, I could get by with it in a pinch.

It is ridiculously high tech, definitely a conversation piece (whip it out at a restaurant, project it onto a table surrounded by friends, and watch the jaws drop)... and yes, about as geeky as it gets, but the learning and adjustment curve from a real keyboard is steep, and typing on a somewhat non-standard keyboard layout, projected on a hard, flat surface is pretty rough on the old fingertips after a while. A more conventional folding Bluetooth or IR keyboard is probably a better all-around solution, but if you like bleeding-edge technology, the VKB could quickly become your favorite new gizmo.
