Send MMS pictures with Pixer
Electric Pocket released today Pixer, a multimedia-messaging service (MMS) application that allows users to send images to and from your handheld to compatible devices such as newer Nokia mobile phones. From the press release:Pixer enables users to send and receive picture messages and handwritten notes directly from any wireless device using the Palm OS or Pocket PC operating systems. Pixer is specifically designed for making picture messaging easier for users, as they can take advantage of the handheld computers' screen and stylus when composing messages. Users can either import photographs into Pixer or choose from an extensive catalog of ZipNotes templates featuring commonly used business stationery and fun cartoon characters, including Garfield, Cathy and Ziggy. Pictures and photographs can be annotated directly with the user's own handwriting and then sent to any email address or MMS capable telephone. The MMS spec is still emerging, and future updates to Pixer will bring full compliance with MMS, such as the ability to send sound and animation. Electronic Pocket is also working closely with cellular operators and infrastructure providers to develop a PDA-based MMS-compliant solution, and operator trials are already underway in several countries.
Pixer is now available for $29.95 and includes 50 ZipNotes message templates.
This is exactly the type of program that the Treo needs. I wish more of my friends and colleagues used SMS for quick messages, and being able to send pictures will hopefully spur them to jump on the SMS bandwagon.
