Enfora WiFi Sled by Enfora

>> Read Review (Rating 3/5) <<

The Wi-Fi Adapter is compatible with email and Internet browsing when used with Treo Smartphones locked to Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile and Unlocked versions from Palm. Internet browsing using Blazer is not functioning on Sprint branded Treo Smartphones, unless a Proxy or 3rd party browser is used (see FAQ).

For security the Wi-Fi Adapter supports 40/64-bit/128-bit WEP Encryption.

The Wi-Fi Adapter's internal long life Lithium Ion Polymer battery provides 5 days of standby time and 24 hours of typical data usage. The Wi-Fi sled does not draw power from the Treo Smartphone, and when the Adapter is attached to the Treo included the 5V power supply will charge both devices simultaneously.

The cradle supports 1,2,5.5 and 11 Mbps, but the data rate is limited to the throughput of the Palm Connector.

The Enfora Wi-Fi management/setup CD is included.

  • Browse the Internet; read email and even Hotsync your Treo 650 wirelessly.
  • Charge your Treo 650 through your Wi-Fi Sled.
  • Integrated battery provides hours of high-speed Internet use without draining the Treo 650's battery.
  • Lightweight and low profile design makes for effective travel and comfortable use.

    Great for computer science students.
I can now connect to my school's Unix server through SSH, my Windows remote desktop connection, check my browser based email, and I haven't even begun to do all I can do. This is great for any over-achiever like me who likes to code on any platform, browse the web, from (almost) anywhere on campus. Way cheaper and faster than the data plans.

    I love it
I bought a used one (3 months old) here in the Netherlands. The guy had bought a Nokia with builtin wifi. I paid 75 Euros for it and it workd fantastic with my Palm Treo 650. I travel throughout Europe with my work and instead of having to seek an internet cafe, I go to shopping malls which usually have FREE wifi. What is good about it is, I still have access to my TomTom SD card and files and the built in battery of the Sled doesn't run down my Treo. I keep it in the glove compartment and use it only when I need it. Better than lugging my laptop around shopping malls looking for wifi.

    Thumbs Down

    No WPA as claimed
Despite what it says on the box and their website, Enfora has no plans to honor their claim to provide WPA. This, according to email from Enfora tech support (06/26/2006 at 12:13:53 by Ricardo Martinez). This is false advertising, period. The sled also has a nasty habit of powering off in the middle of activity, regardless of the power-save setting or charge level. Wait for a better product before buying. This one is mediocre.
