On a non-phone PDA, such as a Tungsten C with its WiFi connection, you can use VeriChat whenever you have a network connection, or you can use it in always-on mode in conjunction with your mobile phone.
VeriChat is designed to work in the background; you do not have to be in VeriChat while chatting. You can be logged onto Yahoo, ICQ, MSN and AIM and can be chatting with your buddies on these networks simultaneously, while surfing the web, editing a word document or using any other application. You can send and receive files over IM. Create Buddymarks™ elsewhere in your system to quickly access your favourite buddies.
With VeriChat you can sync your old IM Sessions to your email, giving you a single place to look for your history of all written communication with your contacts. You can also archive your IM sessions to an external SD card.
VeriChat Premium Edition allows you to be signed on to multiple IM accounts of the same type, and allows you to access VeriChat Bots- a rich set of powerful information applications and utilities. With our patent pending Botmark™ technology, you can quickly create custom shortcuts that allow to instant access to powerful mobile tools.
Great IM product, one of the best for the Palm, but since Nokia bought PDAApps and are shutting down the service once the current subscriptions end, it cannot be recommended any longer.
Best Treo IM client
I have been using Verichat for over 3 years and the program is very reliable and does exactly as advertised. I have multiple IM accounts and it provides a seemless interface to all the services. The SMS alerts allows me to have "instant-on" connectivity without having to maintain a GPRS connection (which increases battery drain).
Loved it on the 600, more on the 650 and will always have it installed FIRST on future Treos
Verichat great for Palm, horrible for WM5
I loved Verichat on my Treo 600 - so I was pleased to see that PDAapps was developing a Windows Mobile 5 version for the 700W. But it has been a total disappointment. It only receives IMs when it is active on my screen. Otherwise incoming IMs get sent as text messages(limit of 160 characters)And I know that several incoming IMs have just vanished. If I didnt put in my SMS address on Verizon I suppose I wold never get any at all since Verichat seems to disconnect itself very quickly.
