Treo Pro Cornerstone of Sprint/USIS Background Investigation Program

Wed Sep 2, 2009 - 1:00 PM EDT - By Annie Latham

Sprint announced today that they have teamed up with US Investigations Services, Inc. (USIS) to develop smartphones and applications that help USIS conduct background investigations for the federal government.

The Windows Mobile-based, Palm Treo Pro is being used in the "iCompass" part of the program to increase efficiencies in coordinating case work in a real-time environment.

USIS is the largest commercial provider of security investigation services to the federal government, a leading provider of global commercial employment and drug screening solutions, and a top provider of information services to the insurance industry. The company leads the industry by investing in its workforce (7000 employees in 50 states) and providing employees with the advanced technology and new tools needed to improve performance, including fleet cars, global positioning systems and other productivity tools.

Sprint's newly formed Business Markets Group (BMG) is dedicated solely to enterprise, general business and public sector customers. BMG offers a unique combination of 3G and 4G technologies and applications, including integrated wireless-wireline services.

The number of Treo Pros being used in this program was not disclosed.
