U.S. Cellular, Verizon and Sprint Top Ranked by Consumer Reports
Ouch! A Consumer Reports survey has AT&T bringing up the rear when it comes to service and support.
AT&T customers--half of them iPhone owners--gave the carrier dismal marks ("worst") for the overall value of its network service, for voice calling, and for wireless broadband service. AT&T got an overall score of 60 out of 100--nine points shy of the next-to-last carrier T-Mobile, and 6 points down from its performance in a similar CR survey last year.
Regional provider U.S. Cellular earned a first place score of 84 with top ranking for Value, Voice, Customer Support staff knowledge and issue resolved.
Verizon, with a 74 score, was mostly middle of the score range, with Voice being favored. Sprint, a mere point behind, got its high mark for E-mail.
The results are based on a survey of 58,000 readers at ConsumerReports.org.
The PCWorld article by Mark Sullivan talked about the state of wireless carriers including the impact of network upgrades.
Note: The news itself is part of extensive coverage appearing in the Consumer Reports January 2011 issue.
