RIM equals Palm?
Tom Krazit of MocoNews wondered if Research in Motion (RIM) is turning into Palm -- as in the "next big prize in the mobile industry's consolidation."
He referred to RIM and Palm as "Two of the most important companies in the prehistoric era of the mobile computer (late 90s to mid 2000s)."

Thanks to the arrival of the iPhone, and all things Android, Palm took "a pretty hard fall" and is attempting a comeback as part of Hewlett-Packard.
Nokia is attempting a "born again" strategy with its jettisoning of Symbian for Windows Mobile.
As for RIM, Mr. Krazit said its efforts "to bet the farm on a new operating system as well as a new form factorâare being treated with the worst of all reactions: indifference." Ouch!
Krazit goes on to muse about what happened to RIM and what they need to do to get back on track. One option he floated: a Microsoft-RIM merger.
Consolidation will continue this year for sure.
