One Device Other Hardware Speakerphone Data Calls Usability > Light Treo at Work
Light Treo at Work The Treo gets its name from the fact that it replaces a trio of devices: PDA, cell phone, and pager. This in itself will make the Treo engratiate the Treo to the corporate environment. Less devices to buy equals less devices to lose equals cost savings. Have a cell phone and a pager? Dump the pager, which generally runs ten to twenty bucks a month and get an SMS package. VoiceStream currently has 500 SMS messages for less than five dollars. In the long run, that can save some cash, particularly for large companies such as mine that have lots of employees clamoring for PDAs. I've already spoken with someone from work that is waiting on his Treo order. Other managers will see it and want one too. The Treo will be infectious in the workplace. Everyone will want one.
Conclusion
Handspring has a winner with the Treo 180. It has a few annoyances, but the overall package makes for a good cell phone with an excellent interface. Users that have sagging belts weighted down with gadgets will appreciate this device the most. I feel truly mobile now. If you must have color, you can wait wait a few months for the Treo 270, but you'll be missing out on one heck of a phone.
Pros
- Excellent cell phone interface
- Fast Lookup of any contact
- Slim and trim
Cons
- Sub-par speakerphone
- Call History missing some features
- Need 3rd party software for some customizations
