Butler 1.62

Features

Vol Btns: This feature was the original purpose of the Butler application. When enabled it allows the side buttons on the Treo to be used not only to change ringer and call volume, but to scroll through pages like a jog dial, and to switch to your previous application. I personally find the application switching most useful, allowing be to go between my email and memopad very quickly.

LED: Butler allows you to turn off your LED, or change it to any of the possible states: solid red, green, orange, and fast green. I do not see much use to this feature, unless the tiny LED on the Treo annoys you; to each their own.

K Launch: Key Launcher is a great utility that when enabled allows your favorites to be launched system wide, not just from the phone application. I use this to launch HotSync every day on my Treo (holding down H). Why didn't PalmOne throw in a preference option to make favorites global? It just seems so simple!

Attention: The Attention Grabber is a utility that makes sure you do not miss the rings for SMS messages, voicemails, or emails. It allows you to set ringtones, vibrations, midis, and even MP3s, WAVs, and OGG (through PocketTunes) files as alarms. Alarms can be set to go off at any rate, from every 10 seconds to every 15 minutes. I'll admit, I don't use the alarms, however there is one more feature in the Attention Grabber that does grab my attention. Butler allows you to change the LED state when a Voicemail is waiting. For example, I have it set up that whenever I have new voicemail, my Treo's LED rapidly blinks green. You can also turn it red, orange or green. It's a great feature.

Misc: The Miscellaneous tab includes features for changing the PalmOne keyguard. If you have the screen disabled during calls, one feature allows you to renenable it by pressing S. Another feature prevents keys such as the spacebar from answering phone calls while in a tight case. These features are great if you are looking for a slightly different keyguard solution.

Alarm: The last feature is a basic Alarm. However, like the Attention Grabber this alarm can play ringtones, midis, MP3s, WAVs, and OGG files with vibration. It is a simple feature that uses the same interface as the attention grabber, letting you use alarms without adding an entry to the calendar.
