Verizon Treo 600 Official

Tue Jul 13, 2004 - 4:27 PM EDT - By Michael Ducker

Today's Wall Street Journal contained a brief article (subscription required) today announcing the launch of the Treo 600 on Verizon. Many other PDA and news websites are also reporting on the launch of the Treo 600. The Treo 600 is now one of the only smartphone, and one of only a few phones in the world to ever be supported by every major carrier in America.

TreoCentral first reported on Verizon many months ago, and we have brought updates to the situation constantly. Up until now, everything we knew was just rumors, but today, a Verizon spokeswoman confirmed that the Treo 600 is now available for enterprise customers. Consumers will still have to wait however; A rumored date of July 19th is set for a national retail launch, but Verizon would not confirm any dates. Pricing is also still unknown, as business customers receive many different prices depending on how many Treos they purchase. It is rumored that consumer pricing will be $449 with a 2 year contract, and $499 with a one year contract.

The Verizon Treo 600 is exactly the same as a Sprint Treo 600, except that it is in a silver case, like a GSM Treo, as opposed to the carbon black Sprint version. A Verizon logo is in the upper right hand corner, and above the ESN/IMEI numbers on the back of the device. TreoCentral user rcyphermd ordered and received via FedEX overnight a Verizon Treo 600 today. The photos accompanying this article are thank to rcyphermd.
