New Extended Battery from Seidio

Sat Feb 11, 2006 - 3:44 PM EST - By James Hromadka

More power to ya

Seidio has introduced a new Extended Battery for the Treo 650/700w that provides about 33% longer talk and standby times than the original Treo battery that provides 1800 mAh of power. That translates into 7.5 hours of talk time and 380 hours of standby time. The new battery is even more powerful than than Seidio's original extended battery which was 2200 mAh.

Seidio's release notes that the Extended Battery 2400 is slightly heavier than Palm's battery. I won't be able to weigh it until next week when I get the battery in, but as a comparison, the original 1800 mAh battery weighs 1.4oz (41g) and the Seidio 2200 mAh battery weighs 1.5oz (42g), so I don't expect the weight to be noticeable. I'll update this story with the actual weight of the 2400 mAh battery when I receive it.

If your Treo's battery life has been getting worse or you spend a lot of time on the phone each day, the Extended Battery is a godsend. I went from having to recharge every 2 days to recharging every 3-4 days. I expect the newer model to provide even better performance.

The Extended Battery is available for $39.95.
