Awesome |
Works with Windows XP 64 bit via the USB cable. Syncing never felt so good.

Never buy the first model of any new product line |
700w is the first for palm. Unless you just HAVE to have one, hold off and wait for the price to come down. The software is buggy and will need the typical 1-3patches that palm is known for in order to get it working well. Look at the crap that was the 650. I bought it when it first came out and the voice quality made it nearly unusable. I took it back. Then bought one for 1/2 the price later on and the it better but still a poor quality. My free phone(s) dont have the problems that i have with the 650 while just making calls. It reboots itself, locks up, etc... Any free phone on the market works better.
This will have just as many problems as the 650 and maybe more since palm has never worked with windows before. beware, wait for more reviews.

The software is full of bugs |
Major flews with so much to offer make it not ready for primetime.
Speed dials: The Treo 700w has a really neat way to look at and work with speed dials. However the flew makes it a challenge to keep the product and go back to my 650.
When you have more then one speed dials that dial the same phone number but do two different things has a bug. I need one office number to simply dial the number, another that automatically adds in my voice mail box and password. When I use the one that only dials it automatically puts in the others secondary numbers and shows the other label.
I worked with a Palm Tech (Took 6hrs to reach) we went through this and he also realized the flew and thus submitted.
I love the way it processes text characters such as Word does on my PC
I want to listen to music but the built in player is way short of Media Player 10 for the desktop with no way to control pre-amplification or equalization. Not to mention you cannot have more than one play list.
The Active Sync program I have yet to get to work and are losing patience with it. To get around it I am back using the same redirector used with my 650 when I should be able to connect directly to my exchange server.
I truly believe the phone should have gone out to people like me first to test. The bugs fixed and then finally sold. But this is notorious for Microsoft.

Poor screen |
Sad thing they are using a 240x240 screen !! I expected this Treo to offer an even better image quality than the 650, which by the way is quite impressive. After reading the review, I guess I will not get rid of my 650 for this one.

This phone will kill pedestrians |
The operating system is so bad it is dangerous.
It is not palm and thumb based but pen based. Trying to make a call while you are driving using a pen or your fingernail is dangerous.
This is nuts. Palm making an inferior treo to incorporate an inferior os.

No visible support for Lotus Domino Server |
What good is an phone that is meant to access an business mail server if it only work with a poor windows based server and not anyting in the mid to mainframe area? I will stick with Xpress mail and Lotus Domino on an I5 server (no viruses!).

As a new PDA user, this rocks! |
First time with a smartphone, love how I know where everything is due to windows familiarity. Only had to reboot once due to speakerphone issues

only to first time pda/phone users or existing PPC users |
If you own a 650, you will be disappointed! Being a long time user of PPC, I succumbed to the Treo 650 to get the "all in one" pda/phone. Had an awful time adjusting to Palm- months of misery, only to accept this new platform. I soon appreciated the one handed usefulness of the 650, yet swore I would go back to PPC when Treo came out with one...and they did! So I tried out the Treo 700w and was I surprised at the increased effort(keystrokes and screen taps) to get to an application! And it was not 100% one hand usable! I think I have been converted to Palm! I just miss having multiple applications open at one time...someday. But if you have never experienced the usefulness of the 650, you will love the 700w...there are a few new features of Windows Mobile 5.0 that are worth it!
