Not for technically challenged sales people.
Most folks I see oogling these are techno-novice people who think they need every whizbang feature in the world to be productive... If you are one of those - sorry, I've had to help way to many of you sales/manager people figure out how to open your email or sync your phone to trust your reviews. I have to admit - if you sync a months worth of email, 2,000 contacts, 30MB of photos and sync every 5 minutes - you may have performance issues. However, I use my Treo 700w in a technical role - I reply to corporate support email quickly, it makes people happy not to have to wait until 8am for a fix. It gives me the power to still make a difference even if I'm not at my desk. I wish more corporations would take the high tech away from the no-tech and give it to the people who put them to the best use... however, when you ask a manager who should get the $600 phone - they'll almost never say their subordinates. Regardless - I've seen some glitches in Palm's tweaked WM5, but it's 100% better than any previous pocketPC I've used. The only thing I miss is being able to jot down a scribble note instead of typing it.

700w : No Relability as is not relable as PDA or Ph
I've been an early adopter starting with my TRS-80 Model 3 computer and my Palm II back in the day. As an early adopter you expect certain items to be buggy, but you find the benefit of using the device to outweigh the little drawbacks from time-to-time. This most definately is not the case with the 700w. It is without a doubt one of the most buggy devices I have used over the last 20 years. It works great the first 2-3 weeks and then watch out! Synch problems, dropped calls, terrible battery life, soft resets, these all become daily routines for owners of the 700w. It is ashame. The device looks sexy on the outside . . .as long as you don't turn it on you will not be disappointed.

Complicated for a phone, but indispensable.
I love my Treo 700w and I would consider myself a bit of a power user although I do not do any programming. I just wanted something I could synch with Outlook and use as a phone, and track my to do list, my appointments, and surf the mobile web. The Treo 700w suits me fine for all these features. I do wish battery life was better, and I definitely wish it had more system memory to run programs since I did have to do a hard reset once due to system lag... the machine kept getting slower and slower to the point where keypresses were lagged by 2-4 seconds each, making it hard to use as a phone and for voice mail retrieval. However, once I did the hard reset and reinstalled the programs I had bought for it -- Pocket Informant, FlexWallet, Sudoku Master, and ListPro -- it worked just fine and I love it. I will upgrade if they ever increase the memory and fix the probably memory leak that exists when alarms and reminders go off, but I will continue to happily use my Treo 700w for the time being. I love it, and it works well for me. However, you do need to know how to do soft resets, and it does help to have a working knowledge of pocket PCs for file management.

It has been the most unusable and unrealiable product I have owned in my entire life -- literally.
Since buying this phone, I have had nothing but problems (from syncing issues to multiple multiple hard reboots per day). I have tried everything to resolve them (including a firmware upgrade that only made things worse) with only limited success. Each time I think I have resolved a problem, it resurfaces. At this stage, I cannot sync with Outlook without completely deleting my phone from ActiveSync and forcing a complete synchronizaation (which creates other issues with my data). I bought the phone hoping that it would be the most seamless way to bridge my PC-based Outlook data and my cell phone. I could not have been more wrong.

unstable OS
I have to soft boot daily. Set up was very difficult. Battery life is never more than a day. User interface is not intuitive. Wish I would have waited for the 700p!

Thumbs Down

Very unreliable...
The software keeps crashing or freezing. Sometimes even you press the "answer" button when a call arrives and it does nothing. I have to hard reboot at least once a week.

Problems once you load other Apps on phone
I had nothing but headaches with this phone. Constant problems and sych problems as well and is very slow. Once I removed all but the default Apps it would work a little faster and so far I did not have to reset. I gave up with synching with my PC.

Thumbs Down

Not ready for production
This phone is a disappointment. Frequent lock-ups, consistently sets to the wrong time zone, buggy software.

Useful but BUGGY!
I like the today screen and other features like EVDO speed browsing, Word, Excel, camera and more. Plus, the phone works well. The downside is that it locks up A LOT and I have had to reset it constantly. grrr.
