the overall performance is smooth.
The capacity is too small. the overall operation is smooth. one step further from treo 650.

Hang onto your 650!
Main problem: weak battery. If you are used to how the 650 works, you will have trouble adjusting to 680. I sent it back in two days and started using my 650 again.

Horrific Quality
Phone #1 Worked 3 days before it would no longer accept calls/call out. Told to do a hard reset. Worked for another day. Phone #2 Same problem although this took only 2 days to occur. I'm sending this POS back and keeping the 650. While I can tell it has less battery life than the 650, the lack of quality on this thing is just ridiculous.

don't bother
It has less battery life than the 650 and my wife is on her third one. The OS or the hardware is flakey.

Poorly integrated mail and sync
I have had several Palms and one Treo 600. I had a tremendous amount of failures and lockups as did others. I was fed up and went back to small phone and laptop leaving the Treo 600 to collect dust. The Treo 680 came out, I ordered and received my first one which had perhaps 30 to 45 minutes of battery life with all infrared, RF and Bluetooth off. I had to continuously reset the unit to get the infrared and the Bluetooth to work; that is, I had to pull the battery and reset it. Outlook would not synch. Then I find out that they say the outlook conduit will not work with Windows Media edition. Of course that was not mentioned in the adverts. Due to the battery life I returned the first unit and attempted to start fresh on my laptop with XP home vice XP media. Still no luck syncing Outlook contacts and mail. Went back to Versa mail and was able to synch, but whenever I had to delete the email trash, the system hung up. Tech support was of no help and I am sending the unit back for a refund. I am now in the market for an unlocked GSM Windows mobile phone as my company does not have Blackberry support. As for Palm Treos, I suspect they will again be in court over this as they were with the Treo 600 units.

NICE
I just got mine last week and I love it. I was going to get the Treo 750 but it is too expensive. Treo 680 is nice enough, the same functionality at a lower price

Great Phone/PDA, Battery Life Sucks
I have been a palm user since 500 to now 680. 680 is great as a PDA/Phone but the battery life realy does suck.

Battery Sucks!!
I consider myself a light user and this battery can barely make it through a day! Other than that, I do like it better than my 650. If you have a working 650, stick with it!!!

Disappointing Battery Life
I'm a first time user. Everything is just great except for the battery life. It sucks big time. Very disappointed. Palm could do better.
