Would you recommend Palm GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition 2+ ?

    Yes   No

    Thumbs Down

    Only as a Last Resort
It's instructions are vague. It will tell you to "Keep Left" even when keeping left will take you down an unintended offramp or driveway. It takes way too long to find a GPS signal when you first turn it on, and then it might lose the signal while you're driving along. You better have a plan B when you use this, or better yet, make this your Plan B.

    Thumbs Down

    Unreliable
I am comparing this system to the built in system that came with my BMW. 1) The distances stated are completely unreliable. When it says "Turn 400 yds" ahead, it might mean yards, but it might just as likely mean "400 feet". Unfortunately it doesn't offer any units less than yards or meters. By contrast the BMW system seems to know exactly where you are within inches - even telling you when to "Stay in the middle lane" as opposed to a left or right lane. The Palm/Tom-Tom system isn't nearly that precise. 2) It can take many minutes to find a satellite. If you're really lost, you'll have to pull over and wait up to five minutes. The BMW system never takes more than 30 seconds to locate your position. 3) Forget about using this system in downtown Manhattan. Skyscrapers block the satellites and make the system completely useless/
