Treo Pro Sighting: Philusa's Sales Force

Mon Jun 7, 2010 - 1:27 PM EDT - By Annie Latham

Philusa Corporation, a marketer and distributor of personal care, pharmaceutical, baby care, and household care products, has armed its sales force with Palm Treo Pro smartphones. Equipped with a custom-built application that connects with their SAP software, the Treo Pros enable sales orders to be inputted automatically to the system, as well as call planning and reporting from people in the field.

The Treo Pros are replacing a labor intensive, paper-based system that consisted of the sales person logging the order onto a sales order form, and bringing or faxing the report to the office. Then, the office personnel keys in the order and prints it out, and the designated officer approves the order.

For the most part, Arlan Dimalanta, PhilUSA's IT manager, said deploying the system was easy. It was user adoption that presented more of an implementation challenge.

An unlocked version of the Treo Pro, which runs Windows Mobile 6.1 on the AT&T and T-Mobile wireless networks, is available from Amazon for $199.
